Hello all!
While not many people may read this, I decided it would be best to do an introduction story on my page so that I can keep track of my progress as I continue to learn and grow as a writer. My name is Ethan Ash, and I just joined Medium a couple days ago.
I’m a college student and have always had a passion for writing. unfortunately, my own self-esteem and insecurities have gotten in the way of me truly pursuing my passion as a career. I usually only write in my journal and for myself to read and reflect on. However, I hope that this is the beginning of a process that can help me grow to believe in myself as well as have the opportunity to share my thoughts and ideas with anyone who is interested in listening.
I plan to write articles on various topics, all of which are things near and dear to my heart. Whether that be about self-care, mental illness, music, film, or even sports, my only hope is that my writing can improve overtime and bring some kind of joy or help to anyone who reads it. Writing and reading have always been outlets for me to express myself in ways I thought I never could. I think it’s important for all of us to find that form of expression that we connect with, no matter what it is. Discovering a way to express yourself can be invigorating as well as a way to look within yourself and find things you never knew were there.
While I am still new to this, I hope that it can be a learning experience for me in a multitude of ways. I haven’t had a lot of opportunities to travel and explore all the cultures that I would like to, and I have found the next best thing is to interact with others who have had those experiences. If I can find elders or peers here to learn from and interact with, I would be that much more grateful.
More and more everyday, I find that self-reflection is critical to my self growth and something I would promote to everyone, regardless of their state of mind. For me, I hope that writing here could potentially act as just that. Theres so much this world has to offer, but until I can learn more about myself and find my identity, I will never be able to comprehend the world I live in, or how I connect with it.
